About Kantrob

Built by someone who got tired of the problem

Kantrob was invented by Sean Kieran, a mechanically minded engineer who kept running into the same thing: the hitch lock in the shed doesn’t stop anyone. Every lock on the market had to come off before you could tow, which meant it was off most of the time.

So he designed one that stays on. Cast in stainless steel, engineered around the Knott coupling, and made in Ireland.

How it is made

  • Cast stainless steel
  • 2.5 kg
  • Made in Ireland

Cast in stainless steel, 2.5 kg, and built around the Knott coupling so it can stay on the trailer while you tow.

The patent and design position

  • Patent pending
  • Design registration pending

The Knott hitch lock is patent pending. A design registration has been lodged and is not yet granted.

Why it exists

A lock that has to come off before you tow is a lock that spends most of its life off. That is the whole problem, and it is the reason Kantrob is designed to stay fitted.
